Idioms (ID-ee-umz) are sayings and phrases with meanings totally different from the actual words used. People use them daily, and this book will help you understand some of the most common ones by giving the saying or phrase that you may hear, and showing what it really means. It also shows how these silly sayings are an important part of our language.

It might seem glamorous to be a knight in the Middle Ages, but this book shows that the reality was actually quite different. A knight's life was dangerous and uncomfortable, and most died before the age of 50. This book is packed with information, and the many illustrations add humor to a somewhat grim subject. If you enjoy this book, look for others in the You Wouldn't Want To-- series.

Young people who love disgusting things will be delighted with this picture book, which examines animal babies and what they eat. Lizards, owls, frogs, and other types of animal babies are shown eating rotten eggs, worms, spiders, and rats. Each two-page spread features an animal baby gobbling down an unappealing meal with the repeated refrain, 'That's not our baby's supper! Yuck!' The book closes by showing what our (human) babies do eat for supper: warm, creamy milk.
