Andrew Zimmern's Field Guide to Exceptionally Weird. Wild, &  Wonderful Foods

In this book, Andrew chronicles some of the bizarre foods he has tried all over the globe. He also writes other entries of facts related to the foods so it very much reads like a collection of newspaper articles. Travel in your mind to Madagascar and meet the hissing cockroaches. Andrew insists that these cockroaches are absolutely delicious. Believe it or not though, there is a downside to eating raw hissing cockroaches. They contain a mild neurotoxin that can numb the mouth and make it difficult to swallow. Also, in this section of the book, Andrew writes about how to keep a giant hissing cockroach as a pet. If cockroaches aren't quite your thing, maybe garlic ice cream is. You can travel to Gilroy, California for their garlic festival or Puerto Rico to try some. Or you can make your own from the recipe that is included in this book. Mr. Zimmern didn't like it, but you might! Other interesting food items and factoids are presented ranging from a description of what scrapple is to the information that eating too much liver can cause a health condition.
